I started this piece with the idea that I wanted to use the ivy border on a very pretty plate I found to create borders on a red ceramic flower pot. Honestly, once I got the borders done, I had no idea where to go from there.
Why am I telling you this? If any of you are actually reading my blog, it may make you feel better to know that sometimes artist’s get stuck, and the creative process isn’t always as easy as it looks. Well, sometimes it might be for some people, and sometimes it is even for me, but that’s not always the case.
What I did was to set the flower pot in it’s unfinished state, aside. I let it sit for several days and experimented with a variety of different ideas before I decided to fill in the belly of the pot with the same red glass shards I used for the Angry Bird (aHa! some of you noticed that, did you? Bravo!)
I am very pleased with the way it turned out, and I especially love the black grout with the ivy glass. This is the first time I have used black grout (I have been using various shades of grey or tints ) and this may be my new favorite grout color. We’ll see.
